On September 15th, 2017 Health Canada announced that it will proceed with prohibiting the use of Partially Hydrogenated Oils and Fats (PHOs) in food products.  Partially Hydrogenated Oils will be added to the List of Contaminants and other Adulterating Substances in Food as of September 15, 2018.  After this date, it is not permitted to use partially hydrogenated oils in any food, or component of food in Canada including processing aids.
